This is the largest opal I ever cut. A cloudy/smoky crystal opal from rough I got 20 years ago from 'La Trinidad', a mine in Queretero, Mexico.

4 8x6mm cabachons, weights slightly varied.Opals are the hardest of all gems to photograph; as you can see, different lighting angles evoke different color shades. These were taken in low lighting with small DC current bulb, and over dark background since both Crystal and Fire Opals capture and retain 'play-of-color' (incorrectly know as 'fire' to laymen) over dark surfaces; I normally 'antique' (or blacken) the base of my settings for this type of stone.The top-left stone is $70, top right is $70
